Small batches, no tooling

The same part, once or in a run, from the same file and the same material. No mould, no tool lead time. A person checks the file and prices the run. 70 sensor enclosures in two colours is the largest job we show.

  • No tooling, no minimum quantity
  • One setup charge per order
  • Most popular materials: usually 1-3 working days on average
  • Ships to the Baltics, Finland, Sweden and Denmark

When FDM is the right process for a run

Render of six identical black PETG knurled knobs laid out in two rows

FDM fits when the part is plastic, fits in 360 x 360 x 360 mm (340 x 320 x 340 mm in carbon-fibre and heated-chamber materials), and the run is small enough that a mould would cost more than it saves. It also fits when the design is still moving. A changed file is a changed part on the next print, with no new tool.

It stops where the process stops:

  1. Tolerance±0.5%, minimum ±0.5 mm. A feature that needs ±0.1 mm has to be machined or moulded.
  2. SurfaceLayer lines. A glossy, moulded finish is not what comes off the printer.
  3. MaterialFDM plastic only, no metal or resin. Heat, chemicals and strength come from the engineering filaments: PPA-CF, PPS-CF, PET-CF, PC FR.
  4. VolumePast the run size where a mould pays for itself, moulding is cheaper per part. We do not state that figure: it depends on your part. Ask a moulder for a tool quote and compare it with ours.

What a run looks like

  1. Send the fileSTEP, STP, STL, 3MF, OBJ or SLDPRT, with the quantity, the material or what it must survive, the date, and the country. No account.
  2. A person checks itAnd replies, in 3 hours on average on workdays. The reply says if FDM is the wrong answer.
  3. The quoteLists the material, the quantity, the price per part, one setup charge for the order, and the date.
  4. You approveNothing is charged before.
  5. We print and postParcels go to the Baltics, Finland, Sweden and Denmark.

The "1-3 working days on average" belongs to the most popular materials: PLA Basic, PETG HF, TPU for AMS, PPA-CF, PPS-CF, PET-CF, PC FR and ASA Aero. For a run, and for any other material, the quote gives the date for your quantity.

A run we can show: 70 sensor enclosures

EDI needed 70 enclosures for sensor nodes: 30 in one colour and 40 in another, one matched to a RAL code. We proposed the closest filament colours, sourced the approved one and printed all 70 in matte PETG as an express order.

What it shows: two variants in one order, a specified colour, and a deadline. It is one job; it is not a promise about what the next run costs or how fast it ships.

Keeping parts alike across a run

  1. One fileEvery part comes from the same file, in the same material. Send the final file before you order, not after the first parcel.
  2. One tolerance±0.5%, minimum ±0.5 mm. If a mating dimension needs more, say it in the first email and the reply says whether FDM can hold it.
  3. One colour sourceFor a colour-critical run, say so. As with EDI's order, we source the approved filament for the whole run.
  4. A first part firstOrder one part, fit it, then order the run. One part is a real order. The run is a second order with its own setup charge; the quote shows it.

Bridge and pre-series runs

Printed parts earn their place while the design settles: a pre-series to test in the field, a bridge run while a mould is built. When the design is frozen and the volume is large, the mould wins. We say so when the quote shows a run that is better off elsewhere.

No IATF or ISO certificate, PPAP or lot traceability comes with a run. If your purchase order needs one of these, say so in the first email and a person answers before you spend anything.

What to send

  1. The file, one part per file, units in mm
  2. Quantity per part, and per colour
  3. The material, or what the part faces: heat, sun, oil, load
  4. The date you need the run
  5. Any dimension tighter than ±0.5%, minimum ±0.5 mm

Questions

What is the minimum quantity?

One part. There is no minimum quantity.

Is there a setup charge?

One per order, and the quote shows it. The exception is 24/7 WHITE PETG, which has no setup to wait for or pay for.

How fast is a run?

The quote gives the date for your quantity. The figure "1-3 working days on average" is for the most popular materials.

Can I split a run between two colours?

Yes. EDI's 70 enclosures were 30 in one colour and 40 in another.

Can you hold a tight tolerance across a run?

Our tolerance is ±0.5%, minimum ±0.5 mm. For tighter, tell us the dimension first.

Do you provide material certificates or PPAP?

No. If your order needs them, say so in the first email.

A run, no tooling?

Send the file and the quantity. A person checks it and replies with a price in 3 hours on average on workdays.
